Pitchandy Poorna Maalaiammal Educational Trust, Muthiahpuram, Tuticorin is running the Chandy Matriculation School, approved by Board of Matriculation Schools Tamilnadu.

They are running a Chandy Polytechnic College, Chandy College of Education and Chandy College of Engineering for the benefit of the children of poor family working in salt pan area of this locality.

Tuticorin being the Port City and Industrial City, the requirement of skilled labourers are needed. To augument this situation, and to help the poor people, the Pitchandy Poorna Maalaiammal Educational Trust wanted to establish a Technical Training Centre to create skilled labourers.

Hence this Chandy Industrial Training Centre has been established at Muthiahpuram village for the benefit of the children of salt pan workers and contract labourers of Industries with the blessings of Chennai Thiruvergadu Karumari Pattar, Thava Thiru Sri – la – Sri Iyyappa Swamigal and the able guidance of Thiru. K. Raja Ratnam B.E., Chief Engineer / TNEB Rtd. The Trades have been chosen in such a way that the required skilled labourers are readily available for the nearby heavy industries, more over the trades are chosen to facilitate the trainee to start their own entrepreneurship with simple investment under self employment scheme.

NCVT is a National Council of the Vocational Training formed by Govt. of India, which accord affiliation to the Industrial Training Institutes throughout India which is essentially required for employment in major Central Govt. Department, like Railway Department, Defense and other central Govt. Industries like BHEL, SAIL, BEL, GAIL, ONGC, etc. More over it has been planned to take up small contract works in the nearby industries, which will give more industrial experience to the students rather than other I.T.I / I.T.C's. Hence the name Industrial Training Centre is incorporated.

The Chandy Industrial Training Centre has been permanently approved by Directorate General of Employment and Training, Govt. of India, vide NCVT No. DGET-6/22/13/2003-T.C. & DGET-12/1/2008-T.C. The courses commences from 1st August for the Every Academic year.
