It was the ardent wish of the great visionary and philanthropist Mrs.S.Valliammai, W/o.Late S.Ps.S.Pichappa of Devakottai to establish in memory of her son P.Shanmuganathan an Institution of Eminence and of Excellence wherein aspiring students from rural and backward regions could have the best of Engineering Education at affordable costs. With this objective Mrs.S.Valliammai as the Managing Trustee of the Shanmuganathan Educational Trust established the Shanmuganathan Engineering College. She guides the institution as its Chairperson., The College is privileged to have Dr. S.Nilavalagan,B.E.,M.Tech.,Ph.D., as the Director of the college. He is a great academician with 35 years of teaching and administrative experience in Govt Engineering Colleges. He had served as Controller of Examinations and Registrar in Alagappa University, Karaikudi.
