Located in Sri Muthukumaran Institute of Technology is a Self financing Engineering college located in the Kundrathur main road at a distance of around 15 km from the Chennai city. The Institution is approved by AICTE, New Delhi & affiliated to Anna University, Chennai. The Institute has got recognition from UGC under 2(f) and 12(B) scheme. The Institution is accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with B+ grade in the year 2018 and participated in the National Institute of Ranking Framework (NIRF) process. Our college has also participated in the All India Survey on Higher Education (AISHE). The college is in the 23rd year of illustrious functioning and contributing to the cause of Engineering & Management Education. The college has got state-of-the-art infrastructure and qualified & experienced faculty members. We offer 6 UG programs viz. B.E.-Civil Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and B.Tech. Information Technology. The PG programs offered by us are: M.E. – Applied Electronics, Power Systems Engineering, Embedded System Technologies, Computer Science and Engineering, Computer Aided Design, Engineering Design, M.C.A-Master of Computer Applications and M.B.A-Master of Business Administration. Two Research Centres, one in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering and the other in Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering are functioning with the recognition of Anna University to facilitate M.S. through Research and Ph.D. programs under Anna University. Five of the UG programs are accredited two times by NBA and we are in the process getting reaccreditation., SMIT was established and founded by Thiru.A.N.Radhakrishnan,Managing Trustee, and Tmt.GomathiRadhakrishnan, Chairperson. Our managing trustee has rich teaching experience. He is a dedicated, devoted and disciplined person with high quality of knowledge in the field of education. The chairperson of SMITis associated with all Educational activities and has won many awards., The administration of SMIT includes Mr.L.V.Subramanian, Secretary, Advisor Dr.Muthu, Dr. D. Padmasubramanian, Principal, The governing council also has eminent members from government bodies such as AICTE, Anna University and Industrialists., The SMIT has a sprawling campus at Chikkarayapuram, Near Mangadu at the out skirts of Chennai. The excellent infrastructure includes separate blocks for each department with well-equipped laboratories, spacious class rooms,a central library with more than 48,173 volumes,76 national journals and 63 international journals, e-journals and internet facility to provide a wonderful ambience for the students to learn. SMIT has well learned and experienced faculty members and well trained technicians., SMIT has achieved remarkable improvement in academies as well as co-curricular, Extra – curricular and placement activities. About 50 staff members are pursuing their Ph.d in various reputed universities. Faculty members are encouraged to present papers in many national and international conferences to tone and exhibit their technical skill and knowledge., SMIT has well established placement cell that co-ordinates for the conduct of value added courses, soft skills training and provide aptitude training.
