      Young and research-intensive, Nelliandavar Institute of Technology (NIT) is one of the fastest-rising engineering colleges in Tamilnadu with strengths in science and engineering NIT's five-year strategic plan, NIT 2018, maps out how it will become a great global engineering college by 2018. Under this, NIT will build on its current strength and heritage to make its mark countrywide in five areas - Automobile, Mechanical, Electronics, Civil, and Computer. The area leverages NIT's diverse strengths, particularly its expertise in engineering, and the interfaces these have with various disciplines such as science and humanities. In 2018, NIT becomes to be rated NBA Accreditation under the new STAR rating like research, employability, teaching, infrastructure, internationalization, innovation, engagement and specialist strength.
