Department of Management Studies

University College of Engineering (formerly known as Government Engineering College, Kota) is a prestigious centre in the field of Technical Education in north India since 1981. Department of Management Studies (DOMS) came into existence in the year 2007 at UCE with a vision to educate, enrich, empower the students to develop and enhance his/her managerial skills. In a very short time it has emerged as one of the premier management institute in India. It offers 2-Year MBA programme and Doctoral Programmes (Ph.D) in various specialization areas of Management.

Department of Petroleum Engineering

B Tech programme in “Petroleum Engineering” was started with an intake of 30 in 2011-12. This programme is upstream oriented, i.e. it focuses on the domain of Exploration to Production of Hydrocarbons. Another B Tech programme on “Petrochemicals”, with 30 intake, was opened in 2013-14 focusing on “Downstream”, area. Courses Offered : => B.Tech Petrochemicals

Department of Nanotechnology

In compliance with the declaration of Hon le Chief Minister in his budget speech and subsequently with reference to the office order no. RTU/F(2)/2012/1702-08 dt. 25-05-2012, Center of Nanotechnology was established in RTU from session 2012-13.The centre was started as an independent centre for the advancement of knowledge and to contribute meaningfully through research and development in the area of Nanotechnology. For this, the centre was initially to started Post Graduate Studies and Research in the area of Nanotechnology.Two M.Tech. Programmes, namely M.Tech.

The Indian information technology (IT) industry has played a key role in putting India on the global map. Thanks to the success of the IT industry, India is now a power to reckon with. According to the Department of Information Technology (DIT), the overall Indian software and services industry revenue is estimated to have grown from US$ 10.2 billion in 2001-02 to reach US$ 58.7 billion in 2008-09—translating to a CAGR of about 26.9 per cent. The industry grew at 12.9 per cent in 2008-09.

Department of production Management

Production and Operations Management ("POM") is about the transformation of production and operational inputs into "outputs" when distributed, meet the needs of customers. This process is often referred to as the "Conversion Process". There are several different methods of handling the conversion or production process - Job, Batch, Flow and Group. POM incorporates many tasks that are interdependent, but which can be grouped under five main headings: Product, Plant, Processes, Programmes, People.

Department of Computer Science Engineering

The Department of Computer Science & Engineering came into existence in 2005 when the erstwhile Electrical Engineering Department in Engineering College Kota was separate in to three different departments. Department is offering UG courses in (i) Computer Engineering and (ii) Information Technology. One full time PG program in Computer Science is also offered. At present there are 7 faculty members (1 Professors, 02 Associate Professor and 04 Assistant Professors).

Department of Chemistry

This department offers courses in engineering chemistry to the first semester and second semester students as well as the course on environment engineering in second semester of B. Tech I year students. These courses are common to all branches of engineering. Every course includes theory, tutorial and practical laboratory work. The department has well qualified and experienced faculty members, with all necessary infrastructure. The department aims at preparing the students for careers in all the fields of engineering aspects and also carries out basic and applied research work.

Department of Physics

The department of Physics imparts sound theoretical knowledge of physics supported by experiential learning to all the students of B. Tech Programme. The physics lab of the department is fully equipped with latest experimental setups as per guidelines of AICTE and Rajasthan Technical University, Kota.Physics Department of VIET has a fully equipped laboratory for conducting various experiments. Equipments like spectrometer, Newton’s Rings, Polarimeter, bi-prism, sextant and other electrical equipments are there.

Department of Mechanical Engineering

Mechanical Engineering plays a leading role in evolving an engineering sciences to serve the society. At VIET the department of Mechanical Engineering fulfils this obligation by offering academic programme leading to B. Tech degree. The department has specialization in three areas of mechanical engineering namely design, manufacturing and thermal & fluid engineering.

The Department of Information Technology (IT) is well developed and equipped to cater the academic requirements of the students pursuing B. Tech (IT) programme. It support individual & colloboratie learning including web based communication and wireless LAN.

Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering

Electrical and Electronic Engineering is an exciting and dynamic field. Electrical engineers are responsible for the generation, transfer and conversion of electrical power, while electronic engineers are concerned with the transfer of information using radio waves, the design of electronic circuits, the design of computer systems and the development of control systems. These sought-after engineers can look forward to a rewarding and respected career. VIET is the first college of Rajasthan which introduced the Electrical And Electronics Engineering branch.

Electronics Engineering department is one of the most dynamic and enthusiastic department of the institute. The Department has thirteen highly qualified faculty members with Ph.D. and M.Tech from prestigious institutions like IITs, NITs and other institutes of repute. Till now the department has five faculties with Ph.D. degree, another six faculty members are pursuing Ph.D. programme in different IIT’s and other reputated universities. Department of Physics

The department of Physics is run by three faculty members- Dr. Anil Pathak, Dr. Anil Kumar and Dr. Sunil Jain. The department is supported by two laboratory assistant, one lab attendant. The Department of Physics is dedicated to impart quality Physics education to students since the inception of this University .The objective of the department is to impart high quality Physics education to engineering graduates at all levels by introducing latest curricula based on the present and future needs of engineering and technological education in the country.

Department of Civil Engineering

The Department of Civil Engineering is working since the inception of erstwhile Engineering College Kota (1981). Dr K.R.Arora was the founder Head of the Department. Department is running the undergraduate course in Civil Engineering Branch. Department also started M.Tech (Part Time) course in Geotechnical Engineering in 1995. Subsequently, in year 2007 M. Tech., (Part Time) courses were started in Structural Engineering and Environmental Engineering in addition to Geotechnical Engineering. Department also offers the full time M.Tech., courses in above disciplines.
