About Thapar Institute of Engineering Technology

Institute was established in 1956 with the goal of providing undergraduate and postgraduate education in Engineering and Technology, a close interaction with industry, and a strong emphasis on research. TIET has grown steadily in size and activities during the last four decades of its existence. Over 7200 engineers have graduated from TIET. In recognition of its achievements, TIET was granted full autonomy and the status of a Deemed University in 1985 by the University Grants Commission. The Institute offers undergraduate programmes leading to Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) degree and postgraduate programmes leading to Master of Engineering (M.E.), Master of Science (M.Sc.), Master of Computer Applications (M.C.A.), Doctor of Philoslophy (Ph.D.), and Doctor of Science (D.Sc.) degrees. In addition, industry oriented and practice based Master's Degree programmes in various disciplines are offered in collaboration with TTTI, Chandigarh.Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology (TIET) Patiala is one of the top engineering colleges of India. The institute was established in 1956. Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology is one of the three institutes located in the 250 acre Thapar Technology Campus (TTC) in Patiala. Since its establishment TIET Patiala has built a strong reputation for itself. In 1985, Thapar Engineering College was granted the status of Deemed University by the University Grants Commission. NAAC, an Autonomous Institution of UGC, has accredited Thapar University at the B++ level among Deemed Universities with Institutional score of 82%. The Thapar University is today recognized among the leading privately managed grant-in-aid engineering institutions of the country and one of the forefronts of engineering knowledge in the north-western region of India.
