Mata Ganga Khalsa College for Girls, Manji Sahib, Kotan was established in 1997 to impart higher education to the girl students. This effort was dedicated to 3rd century celebration in the momory of late Jathedar Gurcharan Singh Tora, Ex-President of Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, Amritsar. The College was named in honour of Mata Ganga ji wife of 5th Guru Sri Guru Arjan Dev and daughter of Sri Guru Hargobind Sahib ji.

The history of Mata Ganga Khalsa College for Girls, Manji Sahib, Kottan Ludhiana owes its grandeur to the great vision and far sightedness of the great and illustrious President of Shiromani Gurdwara Prabhandak Committee, Sri Amritsar, S.Gurcharan Singh Ji Tohra to build equal opportunities for education, work and service for women in times when, particularly, women education was considered to be a taboo. He wanted to regenerate mankind and transform the society through value based women education. His aim was to bring about social, moral and spiritual upliftment of humanity through women education. Thus, it became a pioneer institution of the chain & generated a climate for the Education of Women and provided a powerful and moral support for the establishment of other Shiromani Gurdwara Prabhandak Committee Institutions in Punjab. Inspired by the motivating principles of Mata Ganga Ji revered wife of Guru Arjun Dev Ji and mother of Sh. Guru Hargobind Rai Ji, this college was established in the year 1997 by the Shiromani Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee, Sri Amritsar, to commemorate the Tricentenary of The Khalsa Panth. This College is situated at the Sacred Place of Gurdwara Manji Sahib, where the Sixth Guru of Sikhs, Shri Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji stopped here on his way back from Gwalior Fort after setting free 52 hill rulers.

With the devotion of the staff and healthy, moral and religious atmosphere, it soon came to be regarded as one of the best organized colleges of the region with 800 students on roll. Mata Ganga Khalsa College for Girls, Manji Sahib, Kottan Ludhiana which was started about 20 years ago as a tiny sapling has now taken the shape of a big tree densely packed with achievements. From a modest beginning to a scintillating success, the college has traversed along way in its journey of evolution as an institution of distinction. We feel proud to see that since its inception, there has been no looking back. The college aims at Intellectual and Human Transformation through value based Quality Education and also strive to fulfill our vision of imparting quality education for the welfare of students, families, organization & the society at large. The college also realizes the need for the all-round development of students through Academics as well as Curricular activities leading to women empowerment along with moral and human values.
