The Postgraduate Diploma in Floriculture is a one to two years diploma course in India. The study deals with the cultivation and post-cultivation process of the flower plantation. The course is suitable for those candidates who are in love with flower, plants and nature. The floriculture industry is developing rapidly with the help of arts, science and technology and management.
The study is designed to provide in-depth knowledge and skill to understand the Floriculture.The study is focused on theoretical and practical aspects of Floriculture in the academic discipline involves the activities right from the seed production of the plants utilizing the technology advancement in the flower plantation like, hydroponics, creation of landscapes, flower decoration, production management, micropropagation, extraction of oils from the flowers as well as plants, research work to enhance the production, marketing.
In India (ICAR) Indian Council of Agricultural Research, (UGC) University Grand Commission and Government of India are responsible for approving Floriculture and Landscaping Courses. Those Universities which have been approved by theses bodies can award master’s degree which are legally valid and accepted as qualifiers for jobs in the Central, State Government and also in Private Sector.
The candidates should have passed Higher Secondary (10+2), from Science stream or equivalent examination, after that candidate has completed Bachelor Degree like Bachelor of Agriculture (B.Sc Agriculture), Bachelor of Floriculture and Landscaping, or an Equivalent Examination with minimum 50% marks, such candidates are eligible to take admission in master's study program.
The Floriculture study requires 2 years of the time period with an internship in India, It’s a Full Time professional degree course. The course is not available for part-time and under distance education mode as it's a practical based study.
After the successful completion of this course, candidates can also pursue the higher studies and do Ph.D. and specialization research-oriented course in their respective field.
