The Department of Information Technology has undergone a major facelift since its inception on 29th October 2007. Within few months time, the National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning (NPTEL) was also started in collaboration with IIITM-kerala with Prof. Srivathsan (Director of IIITM-K) and Prof. K. Kannan(Vice Chancellor of Nagaland University) as MENTORS in the background. A teamwork well executed in shortest possible time with minimal resources and other demographic constraints.
The IT Department has a state-of-the-art computer laboratory which can house 30 students at a time and each computer can have direct access to the internet 24 hours during working days. A broadband internet connection of 2Mbps bandwidth is provided by RAILTEL which helps the students in their assignments and other study related works, moreover the department is wi-fi enabled. The laboratory is also equipped with an application known as “Learning Management system” implemented using MOODLE software which assists the faculties in designing courses and setting online tests ,quizzes ,etc. It also helps in tracking and evaluation of assignments, tests and quizzes submitted by the students through the application. The Department will be starting M.Tech programme in collaboration with IIITMK, Trivandrum very soon.
