Department of Agricultural Extension
Department of Agricultural Extension has been with the colleges since its inception in 1978 under the aegis of North-Eastern Hills University (NEHU) with the establishment of Nagaland University in 1994, the Department became an integral of Nagaland University.
Apart from offering core Courses to the B.Sc (Agri.) students the department also take up minor course for the M.Sc students of Rural Development and Planning. The Department also frequently organizes field trips and study tour programmes for the students.
The Department maintains a fully equipped audio-visual laboratory and provides practical classes to students regarding planning, preparation and uses of various audio-visual aids. The department has a full time audio-visual specialist and a junior artist as technical personnel.
The department has been conducting all the Extension Education courses offered in the B.Sc (Agri.) syllabus. Theoretical concepts are fully supported by practical experiences in the laboratory as well as in the field. Students are given practical experiences of village surveys, data collection by using interview schedules etc. and preparation and use of audio visual aids required in the extension work.
The department has attended a state level collaborative training programme on “Pulse Production Technology” organized by Ministry of Agriculture, Govt. of India from 20th to 24th March 2001. Besides, the department has also presented a number of papers pertaining to the department in IETC, IRDP etc. in seminars in and outside the state.
