St. Mary's College of Teacher Education , Shillong, was established in 1937. It is affiliated to North-Eastern Hill University. It is a pioneer institution of teacher training for women. It offer Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) courses.

St. Mary’s College of Teacher Education is the first Accredited Teacher Education Institution in North East Region and it has been Re-accredited with Grade A CGPA 3.12. The quality of training attracts a lot of candidates to approach for admission in the College. The College focuses not only on academics but also on an overall formation of the future teachers. The vision of the College is to provide value-based quality education to Student-teachers with a view to improve the quality of education in schools. With this end in view the College provides enhancement programmes every year with experts from all over – national and international. We have been extending our services by organising Extension Programmes to schools where most untrained teachers are in service; we give workshops and trainings in Core Skills of teaching in different schools of East & West Khasi Hills, Jaintia Hills and Ri Bhoi Districts.
