About North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute Of Health And Medical Sciences NEIGRIHMS, Shillong

NEIGRIHMS is an Autonomous Institute established by Government of India in 1987 under the Meghalaya Registration of Societies Act 1983. The then Prime Minister Late Rajiv Gandhi dedicated the Institute to the memory of Late Indira Gandhi, former Prime Minister for her commitment to the welfare and affection for the people of North Eastern Region.

North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health and Medical Science NEIGRIHMS, located in Shillong, Meghalaya is a medical institute established by Govt. of India in the year 1987.

NEIGRIMS is an Autonomous Institute affiliated to the Northern Eastern Hill University, Shillong. At UG level, the institute offers MBBS and B.Sc. Nursing courses and at PG level, they offer MD/MS and M.Sc. Nursing courses.

Admission to courses at the institute is based on entrance exams such as NEET-UG/ NEET-PG/ NEET SS. NEET UG has been postponed to 11th Sept, 2020 recently due to Covid-19 pandemic.

North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health and Medical Sciences NEIGRIHMS is located in Shillong and set up in 1987, under the Ministry Of Health And Family Welfare. The institute is the third institute for post graduate medical sciences in the country. In 2000, the institute was declared an “Institute of National Importance'' by former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
