Department Of Economics

From the very inception, the department has undertaken under-graduate as well as post-graduate programme. At the meeting of Board of Studies (18.06.2009), three more Elective Papers are introduced at post-graduate level viz., (i) Environmental Economics; (ii) Computer and Languages; and (iii) Mathematics for Economic Analysis/Operations Research.

The department regularly conducts doctoral research work. Some of the areas of research in Ph.D. programme in recent years are: (i) Development Economics; (ii) Economics of Contracts and Policy Issues; (iii) Role of Operations Management in Main-Stream Economics; (iv) Social Choice Theory; (v) Environmental Policy; (vi) Special Economic Zones; (vii) Globalization and E-Commerce; (viii) Women Empowerment and Entitlement; (ix) Micro Finance; (x) Tax Reforms; (xi) Banking & Finance; (xii) Demography; (xiii) Rural Development; and (xiv) Gandhian Economics.
