There were only two engineering colleges in Shivaji university area. Because of vision of chief minister Late. Vasantraodada Patil initiated to start unaided professional colleges. Rayat Shikshan Sanstha whose major contribution in education to uplift downtrodden masses also join hands to propagate technical education for development of country., Majority of our students were and are from rural area. Since beginning admissions are given purely on merit basis and without any donation even institute level admission Sanstha is not accepting any donation though college needs huge funds for its new building at Panavalevadi., Under chairmanship of Dr.N.D.Patil and secretary Shri R.D.Gaikwad Sanstha took decision to start Engineering college and Polytechnic in Production, Electronics and Construction branches with 60 intake. Subsequently in degree wing mechanical is stated in 1997 with 40 intake and converted into 60 in2002.Construction branch is converted into Civil in 1987. Computer branch was added in1998 with 30 intake and change to 60 intake in 2002. For diploma wing Construction branch is change to civil in1994, Electronics to Digital Electronics in 2006 and Production to Mechanical 2005. Earlier name of college was College of Engineering and Polytechnic Satara was change to Karmaveer Bhaurao Patil College of Engineering and Polytechnic Satara in 1989. Dr. Karmaveer Bhaurao Patil is founder of Rayat Shikshan Shanstha hence it was emotional moment in history of college. College was running in small campus of other sister colleges. In 1990 college shifted to present campus which is in heart of the city.
