Located in Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar College of Arts, Science and Commerce is one of the most leading Colleges in the Konkan region. The college was established in June 1961 under the initiative of Honorable Ghanshyam Talwatkar and Honorable Nanasaheb Tipnis along with many other citizens. This Institution was founded on 20th June 1961. It is a memorial Institution under the control of People’s Education Society, Mumbai. It was founded by Bharatratna Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar, the founder Chairman of the People’s Education Society, Mumbai. The education philosophy is based on “Pradnya and Karuna” of Lord Buddha. The academic year 2010-11 was the Golden Jubilee year of this Institution. We are proud and thrilled with the memories of the day when this Institution was opened in the year 1961 by the People’s Education Society, Mumbai., The current scenario in the local, national and international level is of intense competition with equal opportunity to all. The world has grown phenomenally in the past decade than ever before. Education which has always played an important role in the life of student has gained a lot of importance in the present times because it is not only what you have but how much you know which determines your success today., The main purpose in running the institution is to meet the educational needs of the students of the konkan region especially of those who belonging to the weaker section of the society and rural areas. The college offers a wide range of programs in Arts, Science and Commerce at Junior, Senior and P. G. levels. It is committed to the all-round development of students through various curricular and extra-curricular activities undertaken by it throughout the year. It endeavors to inculcate human values incorporated in the preamble of Indian constitution: Liberty, Equality & Fraternity. National integration is the sole motto while imparting education to the students irrespective of caste, creed, sex and religion. Special attention is given to make the students assist themselves and become self –reliant and contribute to the well-being of the society and the nation as well., Our college is having 07 UG programs, 3 PG programs and 02 Ph.D. programs. Our pride is our experienced, qualified and best faculties and staff.The management kindled new hopes in the hearts of the people of Mahad and Konkan area by running this college. The Institution was started in mofussil area with 66 students in 1961 and at present, we have (UG & PG) 2306 students in Senior Wing.
