Thakur Junior College was started in 1992 in order to cater to the needs of students passing SSC examination from the schools in and around Kandivali including those from Thakur Vidya Mandir which has already established itself as one of the leading schools in the area. With an initial strength of 60 students in one division of F.Y.J.C. (Commerce) class in 1992, the college witnessed a spectacular growth over the years, presently accommodating more than four thousand students in Commerce and Science streams. The college is poised to become one of the prominent Junior Colleges in the city of Mumbai As a natural consequence of the immense confidence reposed by the students and their parents in the Junior College, Thakur Degree College was established in 1997 to absorb the increasing number of students from the Junior College and provide continuity in their pursuit of higher education. In June, 1999 the Junior and Degree Colleges were shifted from Thakur Vidya Mandir premises in Thakur Complex to a new, spacious, five-storied building in Thakur Village with proper infrastructure ensuring right environment for the overall integrated development of students. The Degree College, affiliated to the University of Mumbai, is already making its mark in the field of academics, sports and extra curricular activities.
Thakur College of Science & Commerce has already formed a nucleus for the educational complex with an Engineering College, an Institute of Management Studies & Research and an Institute of Technology spread over few acres of campus.

A candidate for being eligible for admission to the B.Com. (F.M.) course must have passed the H.S.C. Such students should submit a migration certificate, statement of marks and passing certificate in original along with true photo copy of each of them within two months from the date of admission for final confirmation of their eligibility failing which their admission is liable to be cancelled.

Bachelor of Mass Media (BMM)
The Bachelor of Mass Media is a 3 year degree course designed to prepare efficient, competent and quality media professionals. Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com)
Admission & Eligibility – Degree College
Admission of First Year B.Com / B.Com (Accounting & finance) / B.Com (Banking & Insurance) classes are offered following the declaration of result of HSC examination (STD XII) by the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education.
Admission are granted as per the statutes and direction issued by the University of Mumbai from time to time.
Candidates who have passed the HSC examination of the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education in Commerce and science stream are eligible for admission to F.Y.B.Com. Class.
All admission are provisional, subject to the approval of the University of Mumbai.
Student from Thakur Junior College who have acquired eligibility will be given preference and will be admitted first.
Student of this college who have qualified for admission to higher class will be admitted to such class only if an application in the prescribed from duly completed, has been received with necessary fees within ONE WEEK from the date of declaration of the result of the qualifying examination.
Students from other boards of Universities seeking admission to any of the classes in Degree College will be considered for admission only on production of a Provisional Eligibility Certificate issued by the Registrar, University of Mumbai. Admission will not be granted without the said certificate, under any circumstances. Such student should submit a Migration. Certificate, Statement of Marks and Passing Certificate in original within two months from the date of admission failing which their admission is liable to be cancelled.
Student from other colleges affiliated to the University of Mumbai, who are seeking admission to Second and Third year of B.Com class will be admitted provisionally on production of ‘No Objection Certificate’ from the principal of the college last attended. Their admission will be conformed only on receipt of the transference Certificate (T.C.) from the previous college. For this purpose, they should submit an application from along with T.C. fee to the college at the time of admission
The college is granted Minority Status under Article 30 (1) of the constitution of India by vide GR no. ASN 1099 / LANG /(278/99) / MASHI-3 dt. 1st Oct, 1999. Eligibility :
Candidate shall have passed H.S.C. examination of the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education or its equivalent with Mathematics as-one of the subject and have secured not less than 45% marks in aggregate (40% marks in case of reserved category candidate).

At T.Y.B.Sc. (CS) Applied Component subject papers are of 60 theory marks and 40 practical marks each.

Candidate shall have passed H.S.C. examination of the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education or its equivalent with Mathematics as-one of the subject and have secured not less than 45% marks in aggregate (40% marks in case of reserved category candidate) Students who have passed diploma in Computer Eng. / Computer Science / Computer Technology / IT / Electronic / Allied branches, diploma in Computer Eng. / Computer Science / Computer Technology will be eligible for direct admission to second year of B.Sc. IT.
