Located in I am proud to be the alumni of K J Somaiya College of Arts and Commerce and I have witnessed its emergence and growth from being pioneering institute in languages, humanities and commerce in Mumbai to one of the most coveted and trusted institutes across India. The globalisation and post globalisation era has rendered the world to change every moment and thus, this autonomous institution affiliated to University of Mumbai has created a mechanism to appraise the students of these challenges and to combat them effectively. The journey of this college commenced in September, 1959 with the auspicious hands of Padmabhushan Shri Karamshibhai Jethabhai Somaiya, a philanthropist and visionary. He was determined to impart education to the students who would cherish the traditions and values of the past and yet have the knowledge and skills to cope up with changes in future. I am sure my students armed with courage, determination and self-confident will make them able to turn even the difficult situation into a victorious and memorable one. Their efforts, innovations, research, creativity and holistic goals will add impetus to their future profession., We aim to nurture the students having different potentialities and empower them to reach the pinnacle of success. The college lays great emphasis on the all-round development of all its pupils. As each flower has unique fragrance, in the same way, every student has unique capabilities. While academic excellence is of course encouraged and rewarded, a variety of extra- curricular activities conducted by the institution enable the students to explore and bring out their talents and potentialities. This in turn, will help them to develop a forward looking and confident personality. About 6500 students of both the junior and senior college and about 150 post graduate and research students participate in academic and other activities of the college every year under the guidance of caring and capable staff of our college.
