The existence of department of Family Resource Management is since 1966-67 along with the establishment of college of Home Science in Udaipur. Previously it was known as Home Management. Looking to the need and development of the discipline. M.Sc. programme was started in the year 1979. Soon after the department also started Ph.D. programme by thesis in the year 1983. To facilitate students with better job opportunities just after B.Sc. programme, the department started vocational course on “Computer Aided Interior and Exterior Designing” in 4 year B.Sc. Programme in the year 1998-99. Further, one year P.G. diploma on “Institutional Hospitality Management” and Ph.D. Programme by course work was initiated in the year 2003-2004. Two professional courses i.e. (1) Institutional House Keeping and Hospitality Management and (2) Interior and Exterior Space Designing were introduced in 2+2 B.Sc. programme in academic session 2013-14. So far 139 M.Sc. and 16 Ph.D. Students have passed out from the department.
