Karnataka State Law University is established by the Government of Karnataka at Navanagar, Hubli, with a view to provide quality legal education in the state of Karnataka, It is the single largest federal Law University in the country affiliating more than 87 law colleges spread over the entire State of Karnataka. KSLU is plausibly the first institution, imparting higher education, to have an Assembly every morning, led by the Hon’ble Vice- Chancellor on the main campus and by the respective Principals in the affiliated colleges; Assembly begins with the National Anthem and is followed by a “Thought- for- the day” and a question signifying National and International matters, which is answered in the Assembly the following day. The staff and students of KSLU, including the affiliated law colleges, don Khadi attire every Monday, creating a sense of belonging, integration and nationality. On the main campus, the staff and students wear Khadi dresses in a combination of blue and white, the blue colour signifying tolerance and white, purity.The main intent underlying this initiative of singing the National Anthem everyday and wearing Khadi every Monday is to inculcate patriotism among law students, and the University is proud that the movement has gained a momentum within a span of three months after it was initiated in the month of August, 2009. To transform Karnataka State into a legally conscious society, by providing quality legal education that is professionally competent and socially relevant so as to realize the constitutional primordial goal of social, economic and political justice and secure human rights to every common man. Strive to promote the culture of law and justice in the institutions of State, Non-government organizations and every individual by providing informal legal education training and legal service. Above all, inoculate in everyone a spirit of high moral and human values. Produce law graduates and post graduates who will inspire and lead the community by putting 'service' before 'self'. Strive for excellence in professional legal education. Promote research activities to create basis for making law and legal institutions socially vibrant. Spread legal literacy and legal aid to the poor and needy with a view to take justice to the doorsteps of common man. Provide training to the members involved in the governance of the state, legislators and judiciary to sensitise them in matters of law and justice. Above all, work as a catalyst in inculcating a sense of faith among people of Karnataka in the institutions of law and justice to realize the goals of social welfare.
