Department of Chemistry

The Department of Chemistry, J.N. Vyas University, Jodhpur has an outstanding track record in the field of research and post-graduate teaching. The members of the department have participitated in much prestigious assignment including the Advisory Committee for S.S. Bhatnagar Award. Many teachers have been awarded post-doctorate fellowships abroad for advanced research. The immediate plan of the department is to strengthen the infrastructure of the teaching and research under the FIST programme of Department of Science & Technology, Government of India. The university department of chemistry imparts the excellence in post-graduate teaching of M.Sc. Chemistry in four-semester programme supported by COSIST and presently by Special Assistance Programme (SAP) of UGC. M.Sc Chemistry (under SAP) provides an opportunity to choose advanced and job-oriented elective courses in their fourth semester.

=> Synthesis of Nano-oxides for environmental applications.
=> Green synthesis of nano particles employing bio-resources of arid and semi arid region.
=> Phytochemical studies on desert bio-resources with respect to their medicinal, Insecticidal, oil content and bio-fuel values.
=> Development of Electroanalytical Method for trace metals, anions, Oxyhalides and bio-organics of environmental importance.
=> Development of model software for kinetics and mechanistic studies of chemical reactions.
=> Development of Fluorescence based selective and sensitive technologies. viii.Synthesis of bioactive heterocyclics of pharmacological importance.
=> Remedial technology for effluent treatment employing natural local polysaccharides such as guar gum, tamarind kernel etc.
=> Technology development for improvement of low grade lignite from deposits of Bikaner, Nagour and Barmer district of Rajasthan to meet the energy and power requirement of state.
Correlation of distribution of metal / nonmetals and human health with special reference to arid regions.
=> Development of de-fluoridation technologies for potable waters. xiii.Development of technologies for improvement of solar energy conversion efficiency and storage employing natural and synthetic dyes.
