The Department of Home Science came into existence in 1995 with a mission to provide quality education with practical experience to the female youths of the society. This Department started Postgraduate programme in three streams - Foods & Nutrition, Clothing & Textiles and Human Development in 1999.
The department is well equipped with laboratories spread over three floors for all the three streams. It also shares the laboratories with the other departments, where the Postgraduate students and Research Scholars perform their experiments.

The Department of Home Science has avant-garde facilities for its Undergraduate (UG), Postgraduate (PG) and Research purposes. The department has both independent and shared laboratories. Foods & Nutrition and cookery laboratories are exclusively used by Home Science, UG, Foods & Nutrition, PG and Research purposes. We also have a seperate laboratory for research purpose which is exclusively used by research scholars and M.Sc Foods and Nutrition Sem I students. There are separate laboratories for Human Development, Home Management and Extension Education. For smooth execution of practicals at UG, PG and Research purposes levels, we share laboratories with GPEM, Biotechnology, Chemistry, Botany and Physics departments.
