Looking at the humungous demand for competent graduates/postgraduates professionals and PhD holders in the area of Biotechnology and Microbiology, School of Bio Technology (SBT) was started in 2003. SOB started offering B.Tech in Biotechnology and B.Sc. in Biotechnology as well as Microbiology was added in 2007. Beginning from session 2011-12, SBT will offer these existing programmes in addition to new programmes in M.Sc. and M.Tech. in Biotechnology and Bioinformatics. The School also offers Ph.D programmes in these areas. The SBT is having faculty with very distinguished academic background including degrees from institutions like Pant Nagar University, Lucknow University, IET Lucknow and IIT Kharagpur. Few faculty members also have excellent research experience in India and abroad and are members of editorial boards of many reputed journals.

Students of B.Tech in Biotechnology programme have shown excellence in academics since the inception. Many of them have been selected for Masters and Doctoral studies in premier institutions like IIIT Allahabad, IIT Mumbai, etc. In its brief existence, the distinguished alumni of the School are well placed in reputed Biotech companies and have turned biotech entrepreneur.
