Located in Govt. Arya Degree College, Nurpur an institution of academic excellence was established as Arya College for Girls in ]une, 1978 with a meagre strength of 20 girls. The institution was started in the sacred memory of Swami Dayanand Saraswati whose name stands among the greatest social and religious reformers of modern India, who propounded that knowledge should be imparted without prejudice of caste, creed and sex and that the basic purpose of propagating real education is to inculcate love for Indian cultural ethics in consonance with the Vedic ideas of universal brotherhood., The Arya Girls College was taken over by the Govt. of Himachal Pradesh on 25th June, 2002 as a co-educational institution and named as Govt. Arya Degree College, Nurpur with only Arts stream. But from the academic session 2009-10, this institution also started Science Medical 8 Non-Medical and Commerce classes thereby fulfilling the long standing demand and aspirations of the people of this area. The college today, no doubt boosts of competent and devoted staff, both teaching and non-teaching, well equipped Science Labs., well -stocked Library, Wi-Fi connectivity and a self contained campus. The college has three fully functional smart class rooms and one Computer Lab. that can accommodate 40 students. The college has indeed grown leaps and bounds over the years and is still progressive in terms of infrastructure and quality education., From June 2017, college started Bachelor of Vocation Degree B. Voc. Programme with two courses having 40 seats each, one in Retail Management and other in Hospitality 8 Tourism, under the scheme launched by the University Grants Commission on skill development as a part of College/University education., Our Vision, Govt Arya Degree College, Nurpur shall provide a sustainable and accessible environment where we support and encourage student possibilities by building on the vibrancy of Nurpur and where we are guided by the principles of inclusiveness, integrity, innovation, creativity, and quality.
