Jaisinghpur is a small town of Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh. It was named after the name of Katoch king of princely ordered state Kangra-Lambagraon, Maharaja Jai Singh. It is situated on the right bank of river Beas. Historically, this place is also known as the birthplace of famous Katoch king of "Trigrata" presently Kangra, Maharaja Sansar Chand, who born here in 1765 AD at Bijjapur a Jaggirof Trigarta princely state, is only 3 km far from the present Jaisinghpur town. Like other places of Himachal Pradesh, there are several famous religious places in the town. The notable of among them are RadheyKrishantample, Sita Ram Temple, JaankiNath temple, Shitala Mata temple and a Dargah at midtown, popularly known as Baba Shah Mast Ali Dargah. Presently, Jaisinghpur is a Sub-Division of Kangradistirct of Himachal Pradesh.

Ereastwhile Vyas Velley Private College was taken over by Government in the year 6th of February, 2007 and renamed as KunwarDurga Chand Memorial Government DegreeCollegeJaisinghpur. KanwarDurga Chand was one of the towering personality of Himachal Pradesh in the field of social service and politics.He served as a member of Himachal Pradesh State Assembly from 1967-77 and as a Member of Parliament in sixth Lok-Sabha from 1977-79 from KangraParliamentaryConstituency. At present college has its own well-furnished Building with sufficient Lecture Theatres, Smart Class Rooms, Laboratories, Computer lab, Library, Gym and Sports Complex, Girls Common Room and well connected Wi-Fi network. The college provides also other extra co-curricular atmosphere to the students by various Subject Councils, NSS Unit, Rovers and Rangers Unit, Carrier and Guidance Cell, Red Ribbon Club and Eco-Club etc. Various stepshave beentaken to maintain the decorum and discipline in the campus such Anti-Ragging Committee, Women Complaint and Empowerment Cell and CCTV Camera's has also been located in the entire campus. Currently, the main three streams such as Arts, Science and Commerce are running successfully in the college and the courses offered under these streams at under graduate levels are English, Hindi, History, Political Science, Economics, Geography, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Zoology, Botany and all the courses under Commerce stream respectively.
