To run and control the institution the HARDA TECHNICAL EDUCATION SOCIETY was formed and registered under society ACT Madhya Pradesh . As per the Government of India scheme 40% of the AAWARTI and ANAWARTI expenses was received from Government of India for next five years and remaining percentage from the State Government.

Dhar Polytechnic college was established in 1994 under world Bank Assisted Project. Initially only one branch i.e., Manufacturing Engineering was started. In 1995 two more branches Mechatronics and Industrial Electronics were introduced. All these branches are of four year duration and are based upon sandwich pattern. The curriculum of these diploma courses is designed as per the need of growing industries.
