Govt. Lawngtlai College, Lawngtlai had been established by the people of Lai Autonomous District Council in the year 1980. The college has henceforth, been run by the con concerted efforts of Political, Social and religious leaders, and the local people through numerous hardships for about eight (8) years till it was placed under deficit status with effect from 1, 7, 1988 (vide Govt. of Mizoram letter No.B. 16013/1/88-EDC/84 of 17.1.1989).

Saitual College, established in 1984, was upgraded into Government grant-in-aid Deficit Status with effect from Ist, April, 1993. On 11th Oct. 2007, the College was provincialised by the Government of Mizoram. Since then, it has been known as “Government Saitual College".

Government Kamalanagar College is co-educational Under Graduate UG Degree College, and abbreviated as GKNC. It is located in Kamalanagar, Chawngte, the Headquarters of Chakma Autonomous District Council CADC in Mizoram. Govt. Johnson College, Aizawl was established in 1993 and got provisional affiliation to NEHU on 17th December, 1996 and was amalgamated with Bungkawn College on October 24, 2007. Govt. Johnson College, Aizawl was provincialised on October 11, 2007 by the Government of Mizoram. The Institution has been granted University affiliation upto degree level on December 17, 1996 and got permanent affiliation on July 1, 2006.

The idea for opening of ARTS COLLEGE at Saiha town for the whole Chhimtuipui District was started since 1974.The first meeting was held in the month of June,1974 under the Chairmanship of Shri K.Paichho, the then Executive Member (Rev).,MADC, and decided to set up a College at Saiha. But due to financial problems and other difficulties, the decision for setting up of a College could not be materialized.

T. Romana College was established in 1992 as a private institution, upgraded to grant-in-aid status in 2003 and provincialised in 2008. Govt. Serchhip College, an outcome of the joint venture of Serchhip and Chhiahtlang people was established on 25th August, 1973.
