Established in 1964, Government Arts College (MEN), Krishnagiri was set up in order to enlighten the people of remote areas of Tamil Nadu with the knowledge of education and learning. Initiated with the help of donation from the public, this college was started by the then Honourable Chief Minister, M. Bhaktavatchalam on 15th October, 1964. It had a humble beginning with only 3 sections in PUC. Degree courses were offered in subjects like Mathematics, History and Tamil Literature from 1965.

NMAM Institute of Technology was established in 1986. The college is affiliated to the Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belgaum and is recognised by the All India Council for Technical Education, New Delhi. It is accredited by the National Board for Accreditation and is certified to the ISO 9001-2000 standards for quality education by KEMA, Netherlands. The institution has been granted Academic Autonomy under the Visvesvaraya Technological University from 2007-08.

Sengunthar Arts and Science College, popularly known as SASC, was founded in 1991 by Sengunthar Education Trust. It is a pioneer, self-financing, co-educational Institution, situated in serene green surroundings at Tiruchengode. When Andhra State was formed in October 1953, the government of Andhra decided to start a medical college in the Rayalaseema region of the state. In G.O. Ms. No. 1835, Health, dated 29th November 1955, the government of Andhra passed orders to establish a medical college, the third one in the state at Kurnool.
