The start was slow but the inertia was explosive as is evident from the history of Government College of Science, Raipur, which was founded in the year 1948. Govt.Degree College, Samba affiliated to University of Jammu was established in the year 2005, by the Govt. of Jammu and Kashmir.In the beginning only the subject in Arts stream were offered. It was in 2010 that in respond to students demand,Science and Commerce stream were also started in addition to Arts stream. At present there are 19 subjects taught in college.
