Sri Manakula Vinayagar Medical College and Hospital, Pondicherry, was established in 2006 as a private medical institute. The college is affiliated to Pondicherry University and all the courses at SMVMCH Pondicherry are approved by the Medical Council of India. SMVMCH Pondicherry is spread over 220 acres of land and has over 12500 students and 2500 employees. For transport facilities, the college has 150 buses.

The institute offers MBBS, M.D, and M.S. programs under UG and PG courses. The selection of these courses is based on the marks scored by the candidates in NEET UG & PG. Counseling sessions are also conducted. The application forms can be filled online.
