This College was formerly named as Government Arts College.

With the end of the East India Company’s regime in India and the failure of the first armed uprising in 1857, for India’s freedom, a new era dawned in our country. Founded in the year 2000, today Acharya Institute of Technology (AIT) imparts technology education in 7 streams and offers Post Graduate Degrees in Business Administration and Computer Application. It also offers a Doctoral Study Programme in Mathematics leading to Ph.D.AIT is affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) and is approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), and in the process of accreditation under NBA and NAAC for all programmes.
