Yashwantrao Chavan Arts and Commerce College is situated at Urun – Islampur in the Walwa Taluka of the Sangli district in Southern Maharashtra. It was founded in June, 1970 by Late Shri. S. D. Patil (Ex. M. P.), an educationalist and social reformer in pursuit of “Bahujan Hitay, Bahujay Sukhay” (for the good of many, for the prosperity of many). The college has been rendering valuable service in the field of education, sports, N. S. S. and cultural activities since its establishment.

The year 2009 is celebrated as our Decade-completion year. On June 1998, hon. Mr. Annasaheb Dange laid the foundation of his dream project of Educationally Empowering Rural India at rural and desolate area of Hatkanangale. By deterministically fighting all the odds; through 10 years, the college headed towards the educational upliftment of rural mass. Here we would take a brief review of the achievements of our college of its last ten years.

Shri Shahaji Chhatrapati Mahavidyalaya, Kolhapur was established in 1971 managed under Shri Shahu Chhatrapati Shikshan Sanstha. The College is accredited by NAAC ranking B++. The College goal is to provide higher education to socially and economically disadvantaged students. The College strives for Rajashri Shahu’s ideals of mass education, social justice and equality. The motto of the college is Dnyanam Hi Paramam Balam.
