The MHT CET 2026 Counseling (CAP) process begins in June 2026 with online registration and document verification. Candidates must successfully complete E-Scrutiny or Physical Scrutiny at a Facilitation Center (FC) to be included in the Merit List. Following this, three to four CAP rounds are conducted for seat allotment based on percentile and preference.
MHT CET CAP Rounds 2026: Step-by-Step Flowchart
The Centralized Admission Process (CAP) is an automated system governed by the State CET Cell. Missing a single deadline can result in disqualification from the entire academic year.
- Registration & Profile Creation: Candidates log in to
cetcell.mahacet.orgto fill in personal and academic details. - Document Upload & Verification: Choice of E-Scrutiny (Online) or Physical Scrutiny at a Facilitation Center (FC).
- Provisional & Final Merit List: The DTE releases a rank list. Candidates can raise grievances if their category or marks are incorrectly displayed.
- Category-wise Seat Matrix: A detailed PDF showing vacant seats in every college and branch.
- Option Form Entry (Round 1): Candidates submit their list of preferred colleges.
- Seat Allotment: Based on merit and the submitted “Option Form.”
How to Avoid “Betterment” Traps in Round 2
After seat allotment, you must choose one of three status options. Misunderstanding these is the most common reason students lose their dream seats.
| Option | Meaning | Action Required |
| Freeze | You are satisfied with the seat and do not want to participate in further rounds. | Pay Seat Acceptance Fee; Report to College. |
| Float | You accept the seat but want a “Better” college/branch in the next round. | Pay Seat Acceptance Fee; Fill Round 2 Option Form. |
| Slide | You accept the seat and want a better branch within the same college. | Pay Seat Acceptance Fee; Fill Round 2 Option Form. |
Important: If you are allotted your First Preference (Option #1) in Round 1, it is an Auto-Freeze. You must take the seat or you will be kicked out of all subsequent CAP rounds.
