MH CET Law Syllabus (5 Year)

The MH CET Law 2026 for the 5-year Integrated LLB program (B.A. LL.B. / B.B.A. LL.B.) is designed to test the aptitude and mental ability of candidates fresh out of school. Unlike the 3-year program, the 5-year syllabus includes Basic Mathematics and places a high emphasis on Legal and Logical Reasoning.

With the recent transition to a 120-question format, understanding the specific weightage of each section is the first step toward securing a seat in top institutions like GLC Mumbai or ILS Pune.

Section-wise Syllabus Breakdown

The syllabus for the 5-year LLB is of Intermediate (Class 12) level, though the Mathematics section is restricted to Class 10 difficulty.

1. Legal Aptitude and Legal Reasoning (32 Marks)

This is the core section of the exam. It doesn’t require you to be a “lawyer” yet, but it tests your ability to think like one.

  • Legal Reasoning: Principle-Fact questions where you apply a given legal rule to a situation.
  • Indian Constitution: Fundamental Rights, Directive Principles (DPSPs), Judiciary, and Preamble.
  • Law of Torts: Negligence, Defamation, and Vicarious Liability.
  • Indian Contract Act: Essentials of a valid contract, Offer, and Acceptance.
  • Legal Maxims: Common Latin terms (e.g., Caveat Emptor, De Minimis).

2. Logical and Analytical Reasoning (32 Marks)

This section carries equal weight to Legal Aptitude and tests your structured thinking.

  • Analytical Reasoning: Puzzles, Seating Arrangements (Circular & Linear), and Complex groupings.
  • Logical Reasoning: Syllogisms, Statement-Assumption, Cause and Effect, and Coding-Decoding.
  • Verbal Logic: Blood Relations, Direction Sense, and Analogies.

3. General Knowledge & Current Affairs (24 Marks)

  • Current Affairs: Focus on the last 12 months (National/International news, Sports, Awards, and Legal Developments).
  • Static GK: Indian History (National Movement), Geography, Basic Economics, and General Science.
  • Legal GK: Recent Supreme Court judgments and appointments of Chief Justices.

4. English Language (24 Marks)

  • Comprehension: Reading passages to identify themes and inferences.
  • Grammar: Spotting errors, Sentence improvement, and Tenses.
  • Vocabulary: Synonyms, Antonyms, Idioms, and One-word substitutions.

5. Basic Mathematics (8 Marks)

Though the weightage is low, these 8 marks are often the “tie-breakers” for top ranks.

  • Arithmetic: Percentages, Profit and Loss, Averages, and Ratio & Proportion.
  • Commercial Math: Simple and Compound Interest.
  • Modern Math: Venn Diagrams and Time, Speed, & Distance.

High-Yield Topics for MH CET Law 2026

To maximize your score, prioritize these frequently asked areas:

  • Constitution: Almost 50% of the Legal section revolves around Constitutional law.
  • Puzzles: Mastery of seating arrangement puzzles can secure 5-10 marks instantly.
  • Legal Maxims: Expect 2-3 direct questions on Latin maxims.
  • Monthly Current Affairs: Focus on the “In-Shorts” of legal news from June 2026 to April 2026.

Quick Preparation Strategy

  1. Focus on Reasoning: Since Legal and Logical Reasoning make up over 50% of the paper (64/120 marks), spend the bulk of your time here.
  2. Eliminate Mathematics Fear: The 8 marks in Math are basic. Don’t skip them; focus on Averages and Percentages to get easy points.
  3. No Negative Marking Advantage: Since there is no penalty, practice “intelligent guessing” using the elimination method for GK and English.
  4. Mock Tests: Take at least one full-length mock per week to get used to the 120-minute timer.
