The JEMScN 2026 Counselling process is the final gateway for M.Sc. Nursing aspirants to secure seats in West Bengal’s top medical institutions. Conducted by the WBJEEB, the process is entirely web-based and is expected to commence in July 2026. Success depends not just on your rank, but on a strategic Choice Filling approach and timely Physical Verification of documents.
JEMScN 2026 Counselling Schedule
The counseling happens in three main rounds: Round 1, Round 2 (Upgradation), and the Mop-Up Round.
| Event | Date (Expected) |
| Online Registration & Fee Payment | July 2nd week, 2026 |
| Choice Filling & Locking | July 3rd week, 2026 |
| Round 1 Seat Allotment Result | July 4th week, 2026 |
| Physical Reporting at Colleges | August 1st week, 2026 |
| Mop-Up Round Registration | August 2nd week, 2026 |
Step-by-Step Choice Filling Strategy
Choice filling is where many high-rankers lose government seats due to poor planning.
- Rule of Thumb: Always list Government Colleges first, regardless of your rank. If you don’t list them, the system cannot allot them to you even if seats remain vacant.
- Specialty Priority: If you are committed to a specific field (e.g., Psychiatric Nursing), list that specialty across all top colleges before moving to your second-choice specialty.
- The Upgradation Trap: If you get your first choice in Round 1, you cannot participate in Round 2 for upgradation. Only those who get their 2nd choice or lower (or no seat) can opt for “Yes-Upgradation.”
Document Verification Checklist
Physical verification is mandatory. Failure to produce even one original document can lead to immediate cancellation of the seat.
| Document | Requirement |
| Rank Card | Downloaded from WBJEEB portal |
| Provisional Allotment Letter | Generated after paying the acceptance fee |
| Proof of Date of Birth | Class 10th Admit Card or Birth Certificate |
| Domicile Certificate | Proforma A1, A2, or B (as applicable) |
| Professional Experience | For In-service (TR) candidates, NOC and 3-year service proof |
| RNRM Certificate | Original registration from State Nursing Council |
| Caste/PwD Certificate | Must be issued by competent authorities of West Bengal |
Understanding the Mop-Up Round
The Mop-Up Round is the final stage and is optional. It is the best chance for candidates with a GMR of 400-600 to secure a seat.
- Fresh Choices: You must fill new choices; previous round choices are nullified.
- The Risk: If you already have a seat from Round 1 or 2 and you participate in the Mop-Up round, your previous seat is automatically cancelled the moment a new seat is allotted to you.
- Exit Policy: If you are allotted a seat in the Mop-Up round, you must take it; there is no further upgradation possible.
Admission Fees & Reporting Guidelines
Once the physical verification is successful at the college:
- Govt. Colleges: The admission fee is nominal, ranging from ₹2,000 to ₹5,000 per year.
- Private Colleges: Fees vary significantly (₹1.5 Lakh to ₹4 Lakh for the full course).
- Reporting: You must carry the “Seat Confirmation Slip” issued by the reporting center to complete the final admission at the college.
