📜 Understanding the Rank Card

The JEMAS(PG) result is not just a score; it provides two types of ranks depending on your category:

  • GMR (General Merit Rank): This is your overall position in the state. Admissions are strictly based on GMR.
  • Category Rank: For candidates from SC, ST, OBC-A, OBC-B, or PwD categories, a separate category rank is provided for use in reserved seat allotments.

⚖️ Tie-Breaking Policy

If two or more candidates score the same marks, WBJEEB uses the following tie-breaking rules in order:

  1. Fewer Negative Marks: The candidate with fewer incorrect answers across the paper gets a higher rank.
  2. Date of Birth: The older candidate is given preference.
  3. Application Number: As a final resort, the earlier application number (chronological) may be considered.

Important: The board does not release a “Pass/Fail” status. Every candidate who appears receives a Rank Card. Whether you are eligible for a seat depends on your rank and the cutoff for that specific year.
