- 2.1 CUET Exam Pattern – An Overview

The NTA has released the exam pattern for the Common University Entrance Test (Undergraduate) or CUET UG. Understanding the examination scheme is crucial as it provides information about the test’s sections, the number of questions, the recommended number of attempts, and the marking scheme for CUET. It’s essential to be familiar with these details before appearing for the examination.

By knowing the CUET exam pattern, you can better prepare and perform confidently on the test day.

The details of the CUET exam pattern are detailed below.

Section	Subjects/ Tests	Questions to be Attempted
Section 1A – Languages	There are 13 different languages. Any of these languages may be chosen.	40 questions to be attempted out of 50 in each language.
Section 1B – Languages	There are 20 Languages. Any of these languages may be chosen.
Section 2 – Domain	There are 27 Domains specific subjects being offered under this section. A candidate may choose any subject as desired by the applicable University/ Universities.	35/40 Questions to be attempted out of 45/50.
Section 3 – General Test	For any such undergraduate programme / programmes being offered by Universities where a General Test is being used for admission	50 Questions to be attempted out of 60

From the above subjects/languages, the candidate can choose a maximum of 10 subjects from all three Sections.
The examination will be conducted on multiple days in three shifts, depending on the number of Candidates and Subject choices

Mode of Examination

CUET (UG) will completely be conducted in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode.

Medium of Examination

Medium of the Question Papers: Drawing from the National Education Policy (NEP), the CUET (UG)- 2023 will be conducted in English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu.

The option of language for Question Paper should be exercised while filling up the Application Form online and it cannot be changed at a later stage.

Please note that for the correctness of the questions in all the question papers, the English version will be taken as the final.

There are three shifts in a day. A candidate can choose upto 10 Subjects for giving the Exam.

Duration of Test

Examination will be conducted on multiple days in three slots per day.

Note: Compensatory time for PwBD Candidates of 20 minutes for each hour examination will be given.

CUET

CUET stands for the Common University Entrance Test, a nationwide common entrance examination. Administered by the National Testing Agency (NTA), CUET serves as the gateway for admission into various undergraduate programs such as BA, BCA, B.Sc, B.Com, BJMC, B.Pharm, D.Pharm, B.Tech, B.Voc, BVA, BFA, BPA, BSW, Integrated MA, Integrated B.Ed, Integrated M.Sc, Integrated B.Tech-M.Tech, Integrated MPA, BA LLB, BBA LLB, Diploma, and Shastri in all Central Universities, as well as State, Deemed, and Private Universities that accept CUET scores.
