Understanding the CDAC Ranking System
Your rank is generated based on the sections you attempted. You will receive separate ranks for each category:
- Rank I: Based on performance in Section A. (Applicable for all courses).
- Rank II: Based on performance in Section A + Section B. (Required for PG-DAC, PG-DBDA, etc.).
- Rank III: Based on performance in Section A + B + C. (Required for VLSI, Embedded Systems, IoT).
The Tie-Breaking Rule
If two or more candidates secure the same aggregate marks, CDAC uses the following hierarchy to break the tie:
- Higher Marks in Section B (for Category II and III).
- Higher Marks in Section A (if Section B marks are identical).
- Specific Sectional Score: For Category III, Section C marks are considered.
- Degree Percentage: If the tie persists, the candidate with a higher aggregate in their qualifying degree (Engineering/MCA) is ranked higher.
The “IndCareer Edge”: Post-Result Strategy
Expert Teacher Tip: Do not panic if your rank is between 3,000 and 5,000. While Pune and Bengaluru (Top 1000) might be out of reach, quality centers like Sunbeam Karad, IET Lucknow, or C-DAC Noida often have vacancies in the 2nd and 3rd rounds of counseling. Choice filling is an art—always put your dream center first, but ensure you fill at least 10 options to stay in the race.
Interactive FAQ:
There is no fixed cutoff percentage. However, you must score above zero in all attempted sections. Candidates with zero or negative marks in any section are not awarded a rank.
No. CDAC explicitly states that the C-CAT result is final and no requests for re-evaluation or re-checking of the CBT response sheets will be entertained.
For the August batch, the PG-DAC cutoff for ACTS Pune usually closes around rank 800-1000. However, you have a high chance of securing IACSD Akurdi or C-DAC Bengaluru (Knowledge Park).
If you are not allotted a seat in Round 1 and want to participate in the 2nd Counseling, you must pay a refundable Caution Deposit of ₹11,800 to prove your serious intent.
