The department came into existence on 2004 under the patronage of Dr.Pranav Pandya,Honourable Chancellor of DSVV and co patronage of our Vice Chancellor- Dr.S P Mishra. Obviously the establishmental action was motivated by the philosophy of village pilgrimage plan ( Gram Teerth Yojna) of Yug Rishi Pandit Sri Ram Sharma AcharyaJi, our Gurudev. The plan is considered as the spiritual and realistic model of sustainable development of rural India and ultimately the whole India, followed by the world.

The basic objective of the development is to follow a holistic approach (a part of divine plan) for Yug Nirman. The approach embodies the practical path of development as per needs of the rural society and involves all walks of life ultimately leading to balanced growth of the village and its people. Such growth culminates into sustainable and environment friendly development of the society ,making the people culturally reach ,spiritually sound and self dependent/reliant. Agricultural management, alternative ecofarming , cow culture, rural health and education(adult and job oriented),cooperative movement, bee keeping , rural/small industries and renewable energy system( non conventional energy) are integral parts of such endeavour.
