Bachelor of Arts (BA Sculpture)

Sculpture at Brighton positions itself at the centre of the contemporary fine art debate. Staff and students share in keeping up to speed with development in the contemporary art world, and placing their work in context. We think that each new generation should be part of the continual renewal and reshaping of art-making and it’s perception. Work in the department ranges from the core approaches to materials, space and form to the wider fields of installation, performance, video, photography, and more recently 3D manipulation through computer technology.You will work with real materials and also have the opportunity to extend your practice into virtual realities and Internet communities. The department is also developing a rapid-prototyping facility to explore the potential of computer-aided design to generate objects. New students receive inductions into a range of materials and processes and the safe and effective use of workshop equipment. Students also receive induction into the recording of work through photography and video.
