Govt. College at Seepat was established in 1986 with only 7 students in a house on rent to cater higher education to the stakeholders from the soico-economically challenged background. Being established in the tribal and backward class dominated belt, the college is striving hard to cater to the needs of the people of the area in general and the students in particular.

The college has a huge land of 24 acres at the prime location in Navadieh Chowk of Seepat. In the year 2009, the college was renamed by the Govt. of Chhattisgarh on the name of "Madan Lal Shukla" as Madan Lal Shukla Govt College, Seepat, Dist. Bilaspur C.G. At present the college is having a strength of 265 students with 1

Principal, 10 Professors, 1 Librarian and 1 Sports Officer.
The new building of the college adjacent to the existing one is under construction. In the next session the college will be shifted to the new building.

The establishment of NTPC at Seepat is a boon and blessing in disguise to the college. NTPC has constructed two rooms, a long boundary wall covering the 24 acres of the land of the college and in the near future with the help of NTPC the entire premises of the college will be lighted by Solar Lights.
