Established in 1989, Government Mahamaya College is affiliated with the University Grants Commission and has been accredited grade ‘B’ by NACC. It began functioning in the building of a Govt. Higher Secondary School and was shifted to its own building in 1996. It is presently situated 3 Km. away from Ratanpur on the Chapora-Belgehna route.

The Institution is situated in the Holy Land of Ratanpur finds name after the Goddess ‘Mahamaya’. Idyllically set in 10 Acres pollution free expanse of green, the institution offers an approximate mix of academics, co-curricular activities, and sports, providing excellence in every field and preparing able citizens for tomorrow.

The institution began its journey with courses offered only in humanities but now, it has also taken Science and Commerce streams within its fold. Post graduate courses are also offered in Sociology, Political science, and History.

The college offers the facilities of a well-equipped Computer lab enabled with Wi-Fi connectivity to provide the global view to the students. The institution also maintains a rich Library with books, journals, and magazines on diversified subjects, keeping students aware and updated.

The College is proud to have an actively functioning NSS wing with two units having 100 students each. The Red Cross Society of the college keeps taking various initiatives to maintain awareness on health issues. It organizes health check-ups, blood-donation camps, etc.

The college also organizes talks on career guidance and invites the famous speaker for the same. The college ensures a litter-free campus for its staff and students and pays strict attention to the hygiene and cleanliness of the premises. It has always thrived to produce environment-sensitive citizens.

The college is proud to possess a huge stadium within its campus that hosts various sports activities round the year. Along with imparting quality education, it also encourages students to excel in sports. In this respect, it organizes various athletic events and competitions for both outdoor and indoor games.
