Department of Biotechnology

The department was established in the year 2001 to provide platform to the various emerging areas of teaching & research. Biotechnology is truly multidisciplinary in nature and it encompasses several disciplines of basic sciences and engineering. Undoubtedly, the modern biotechnology is expected to solve many problems arising at the global level. In 21st century growth and economy of a country will certainly depend on operation of biotechnology. A revolution may occur in some of the areas like medical and health care, food industry, agriculture industry & environment.

Courses Offered :

=> B.Sc. in Biotechnology
=> M.Sc. in Biotechnology

Laboratory Facilities :

Department is well equipped with Plant tissue culture, biochemical & mol. biology laboratory facilities with PCR, vertical & horizontal gel electrophoresis, HPLC, GC, Fermentor, BOD incubator, compound microscope, centrifuge, deep refrigerator, laminar air flow, spectrophotometer and Millipore system.

Placement :

Students are working as faculty member and scientist in universities and research laboratories. Students are also working in research project as JRF and SRF in different reputed labs after qualifying NET/GATE/DBT exams. B.Sc. students are getting good position in all India entrance examination (JNU & ICAR) and pursuing M.Sc. in different specialized areas of life sciences.
