Department of Physician Assistant

CRISIL Research believes that post 2011, there will be a shortage of nurses and doctors thereby leading to higher attrition levels in the medical profession. The only solution would be that adequate paramedical staffs are trained, so as to have a continuous flow of staff, which will assist medical staff in clearing the crowd in hospitals.

Eligibility :

A pass with 55% in higher secondary with biology subject in the stream line, Two year Diploma holders in physiotherapy, medical transcription, One year Certificate course holders in cardiac technology, midwifery, O.T and other paramedical courses after completion of higher secondary examination.

Facilities :

Classes are held in the University and in hospitals by the professionals .There are an existing class room with facilities for modern technological learning methods - Slide Projectors, Power point presentations and OHP.The department has a library facility also.

=> Those specializing in surgery provide preoperative and postoperative care and may work as assistants during major surgery.
=> Jobs in the offices of physicians or other health practitioners or in hospitals, outpatient care centers, the educational services and employment services.
=> Institutions like hospitals, academic medical centers, public clinics and prisons.
=> In primary care and to assist with medical and surgical procedures.
=> Physician assistants can relieve physicians of routine duties and procedures in doing the primary work like history taking, doing investigations etc.
