Biochemistry is a branch of biological sciences, which has played a very important role in unraveling many a mysteries of life processes. Biotechnology has put this understanding into technological use, thus giving an altogether new dimension to the subject of Biochemistry. Bioinformatics helps further understanding of biological process by applying computationally intensive techniques. So that data generated by high-throughput techniques can be transformed into information, knowledge and understanding of system.

=> There are two undergraduate laboratories - one each for Biochemistry and Biotechnology. The UG Biochemistry and Biotechnology laboratories have all the necessary infrastructure for the conduct of Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Microbiology and Molecular Biology experiments at the undergraduate level.
=> There are five postgraduate laboratories - two each for M.Sc. Biochemistry and M.Sc. Biotechnology and one Research Laboratory for the M.Phil. and Ph.D. candidates. All the laboratories are very well equipped with modern, state-of-the art instruments and equipment.
=> The Department also contains a walk-in cold room - 7" x 8" to carry on reactions at low temperatures and Animal cell Culture and Plant Tissue Culture laboratories.
=> The Bioinformatics Laboratory of the department is equipped with one Server with 12 Nodes.
