The Department of Psychology, which is an Center of Advanced Study In Psychology since 1984, was started in 1961, under the able guidance of Prof. D.N. Sinha. It has been recognized as the prime department of Psychology in the subcontinent and has the large history of research and publications to back its reputation. Its' teaching staff consists of dedicated teachers, who have, not only, been presidents of international bodies but have produced some leading psychologists in the country. The departmental library (12,000 volumes and 57 international journals) along with its laboratory, is one of the best in the India and serves as the engine of research and teaching, as well as the nodal resource for whole country. The health of department is best reflected in the diversity of the courses taught and research carried out. The rich past of the department makes it look forward to future with a great deal of optimism.
