The Dept. was established in the year 1985 with Prof. Alok K. Gupta as its founder head. The Dept. Conducted several Courses in Thermodynamics, Mineralogy and Petrology for students and researches. Highly acclaimed earth scientists from India & abroad have been visiting since to teach, carry out research and collaborate in respective fields of Earth sciences. This dept. houses the most sought after High Pressure-Temperature equipments used in the study of rocks and minerals also related to material science.
