Allahabad University, Allahabad Department of Education The Department of Education was established in 1942 by starting M.Ed. classes. Colonel Sohan Lal was the first Head of the Department. B.A. classes were started in 1949. In 1981 classes in M.A. were started with the aim to produce educational scientists. The staff members of the Department of Education have conducted more than a dozen major research projects in various topics financed by the Government of India, University Grants Commission (U.G.C.), N.C.E.R.T., U.P.B.E.P. etc. The members of Staff have contributed more than fifty books on various dimensions of education.
