The Common University Entrance Test (CUET) will provide a common platform and equal opportunities to candidates across the country, especially those from rural and other remote areas and help establish better connections with the Universities. A single Examination will enable the Candidates to cover a wide outreach and be part of the admissions process to various Central Universities.

CUET (UG) Exam Details

The CUET (UG)will be conducted in 13 mediums across India for admission into the Undergraduate Programmes in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode for all the Central Universities (CUs) in India.

The CUET exam is for admission to BA, BCA, B.Sc, B.Com, BJMC, B.Pharm, D.Pharm, B.Tech, B.Voc, BVA, BFA, BPA, BSW, Integrated MA Integrated B.Ed, Integrated M.Sc, Integrated B.Tech-M.Tech, Integrated MPA, BA LLB, BBA LLB, Diploma, Shastri, courses in All Central Universities, and State, Deemed, and Private Universities accepting CUET scores.

CUET (UG) Eligibility Criteria:

For appearing in the CUET (UG) , there is no age limit for the candidates. The candidates who have passed the class 12 /equivalent examination or are appearing irrespective of their age can appear in CUET (UG) examination. However, the candidates will be required to fulfill the age criteria (if any) of the University / Institution / Organization in which they are desirous of taking admission.

List of Qualifying Examinations (QE)

i. The final examination of the 10+2 system, conducted by any recognized Central/ State Board, such as the Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi; Council for the
Indian School Certificate Examinations, New Delhi; etc.

ii. Intermediate or two-year Pre-University examination conducted by a recognized Board/
University.

iii. Final examination of the two-year course of the Joint Services Wing of the National
Defence Academy

iv. Senior Secondary School Examination conducted by the National Institute of Open
Schooling with a minimum of five subjects.

v. Any Public School/ Board/ University examination in India or any foreign country is
recognized as equivalent to the 10+2 system by the Association of Indian Universities
(AIU).

vi. Higher Secondary Certificate Vocational Examination.

vii. A Diploma recognized by AICTE or a State board of technical education of at least 3
years duration.

viii. General Certificate Education (GCE) examination (London/Cambridge/Sri Lanka) at the Advanced (A) level.

ix. High School Certificate Examination of the Cambridge University or International Baccalaureate Diploma of the International Baccalaureate Office, Geneva.

x. Candidates who have completed the Class 12 (or equivalent) examination outside India or from a Board not specified above should produce a certificate from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) to the effect that the examination they have passed is equivalent to the Class 12 Examination.

xi. In case the Class 12 Examination is not a public examination, the candidate must have passed at least one public (Board or Pre-University) examination earlier.

CUET Exam Pattern

The exam pattern is as follows

  • Mode of Exam – The exam is in Hybrid Mode (Computer-Based Test/Pen & Paper).
  • Question type – The questions are Objective type with Multiple Choice Questions.
  • Number of Questions – There are 60 questions in general test (out of which 50 have to be attempted, 50 questions in each subject and language test (out of which 40 have to be attempted)
  • Exam Duration – The entrance exam is of 45 minutes (except certain subjects where duration is 60 minutes).
  • Language of Question Paper – The question paper is in 13 languages (Assamese, Bengali, English, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Punjabi, Odia, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu).
