  • NR Narayana Murthy comments on Quality of students at IIT's

    NR Narayan Murthy, chairman, Infosys says “Quality of students is deteriorating at IIT's”. According to him the problem is due to coaching institutes which prepares a candidate for selective problems which are asked in IIT entrance test. This helps in clearing the entrance test but leads to poor performance in educational and employment front. The candidates who works hard and learn all types of problem solving techniques does better than a coached candidate.

  • IGNOU honoring Azim Premji Foundation

    The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) will award Rajiv Gandhi International Prize for Technology in Education to Azim Premji Foundation on September 28, 2011. The award will be presented by the Union Minister for Human Resource and Development and Communications and IT, Mr. Kapil Sibal to its founder Mr Azim premji, chairman of Wipro. The prize consist of Rs 5 Lac cash and citation. A great move by Azim Premji foundation for good elementary education.     CBSE is introducing new Curriculum called CBSE – i. This syllabus has got an international approach with more emphasis on practical and analytical learning than memorization. Anjali Chhabra, education officer at the CBSE in New Delhi told that subjects will have global perspective. For example history will have international approach rather than just Indian.

    Volkswagen‘s Group has launched mechatronics apprenticeship program at Pune, India. The program will provide employability in production, maintenance, planning, quality assurance and research and development. According to John Chacko “ This will provide industry ready working force”. I feel it to be a great initiative that will help in bridging the Education Employ-ability gap and make students workable from day one of joining the company. More such programs should be launched by other companies to increase employment and practical knowledge of students.
