Basanti Devi College as an institution of higher education.The College was founded on 5th august 1959.This is one of the earliest girl's college in Calcutta.The College named after the great Indian patriotic leader Desbandhu Chittaranjan Das's wife "Basanti Devi". Basanti Devi College Kolkata is a premier college offering undergraduate courses for decades. It's a girls' college affiliated to the University of Calcutta. Basanti Devi Girls College was founded on 5th August 1959.Named after Basanti Devi the wife of Deshbandhu Chittaranjan Das, and an eminent woman nationalist leader, Basanti Devi College was established in August 1959, with the mission of empowerment of women. It is the first sponsored girls’ college by the Government of West Bengal under scheme 2F of the UGC.
